Traumatic brain injuries such as concussions and certain kinds of cerebral hematomas can and should be treated promptly. This is particularly important in young athletes such as high school and college sports participants, as they tend to be more prone to such injuries. With brain injury a growing concern in California and across the nation, medical personnel are reevaluating the care and treatment of brain injuries of all kinds.

California residents who have suffered a traumatic brain injury may have health problems for years afterward or even for a lifetime. A study that was recently published suggests that injured brains may also show signs of premature aging.
